Despite what the title says above, I don' think my thoughts are infallable. The Pope's are. Not mine.
I fell in love with reading via two routes. Somewhere around 10, I watched Conan the Adventurer and instantly loved that fantasy world. I saw the first movie, loved it, and saw the name Robert E. Howard attatched at the beginning. I found the Conan series from 60's-70's editions and devoured them. The second route was through an old show called "Gargoyles." It had the same feel as a sword-and-sorcery world but was mixed in an urban fantasy setting, so I loved it. The main character, Goliath, mentioned Dostoevsky. I found a Dostoevsky book, was smitten witha headache, and so turned to literature in general and fell in love with the art of writing itself. Faulkner's writing still astounds me.
I entertained thoughts of writing around high school, penning incredibally ripped-off stories from Robert E. Howard and tortured my English teachers with requests for them to critique my yarns. I stopped in college (2000) and decided two years ago that a writing career was possible with hard-work, study, diligence, patience and prayer. Having no other desire than to share the Kingdom of God, I set out to write. Preaching is an oral tradition, so I shy away from doing that in writing. But both truth and Truth are often presented in fiction, and I see now reason why I can't show them to the world. Especially in a dark, sword-and-sorcery setting. :D
